Alondra joined TSO Texas City in 2017. As technician she performs all the necessary tests for the doctor to examine your eyes thoroughly. Alonda enjoys painting and listening to music.
Atziri is our newest receptionist at TSO Texas City. She loves making our patients smile. She is a part time student at College of The Mainland. During her spare time Atziri enjoys exercising and reading.
Iliana joined TSO Texas city in 2014 during her senior year in high school. She grew up in Galveston for most of her life and then moved to Texas City. Iliana is now a full time employee and responsible for wearing many hats. Outside of the office Iliana enjoys traveling and visiting with family and friends.
Jasmin enjoys her job at TSO Texas City and loves greeting everyone who walks in the door. She is currently attending college earning her associates degree. Outside of the office Jasmin loves spending time with her fiance and son Carter.
Dr. Mercy F. Garcia was born and raised in Fort Myers, FL. She graduated Cum Laude from the University of Florida in 2012 with a degree in Psychology. After graduation, she moved to Texas where she earned a Doctorate in Optometry from the University of Houston in 2016, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
Dr. Garcia completed externship training at the Raymond G Murphy Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM. While there, she provided care to veterans in the tristate area. She also trained at Acadian Vision Associates in Lafayette, LA. In 2016, Dr. Garcia participated in an eye care mission trip to Honduras and provided free eye exams to those in need.
After practicing in South Atlanta for two years, Dr. Garcia moved back to Texas where she currently resides in Texas City with her husband. In her spare time, Dr. Garcia likes to spend time near the water, traveling and watching the UF Gators.
Laurie joined TSO Texas City in 1987. She does a little of everything, from being an optician,
receptionist, doctors’ assistant, to coding and billing. She likes to help out our patients understand their
insurance coverage and co-pays. Laurie is married to Jesse and has 2 great grown children, Zack and
Gabby. “I like to educate our patients in great detail the importance of having eye exams on a yearly
basis and making them feel that they are always welcomed.”
Reyna has been promoted to Office Manager at TSO Texas City. She has worked her way up from optician, receptionist and on occasion Dr. Juarez’s assistant. She has been with TSO Texas City since 2008. Originally from Galveston, Reyna moved to Texas City 12 years ago. “I live with my three wonderful children, Iliana, Americo and Samantha. I enjoy working at TSO because I help our patients with their eye care needs, I like that we make a difference in patients’ lives by making them “see” things way better.”
Mikessis is Dr. Juarez’s optometric technician and optician. She has been with TSO Texas City since 2009. Having lived in Texas City most of her life, Mikessis enjoys spending time with her husband Morris Jr. and her 2 children Aniya and Morris III. “My responsibilities include assisting Dr. Juarez in patient care and needs. My goal is to make sure that all my patients walk out with a smile of satisfaction on their faces.”
Michell joined TSO Texas City in 2014. As an optician she brings lots of optical experience to our office. She can help find the right frame for you and make sure you are wearing the latest fashion. Originally from Guadalajara Mexico, Michell moved to Texas City 12 years ago. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters Stephany and Emily. “I consider each patient a member of our family who deserves the best care and quality product”.
Nelson Juarez, OD, not only practices family eye care in Texas City, but also makes his home in the community. A native of Galveston, Dr. Juarez graduated from Galveston Ball High School. He studied at the University of Houston where he earned a degree in biology in 1999 and went on to graduate from the University of Houston College of Optometry with a Doctor of Optometry degree in 2003.
Dr, Juarez says, ‘I enjoy building relationships with my patients in Texas City which is like a small town where you see patients in the grocery store and get to know their families. It’s great seeing their children grow up along with mine and that’s a big reason why I think it’s important to live in the community where you practice.’
Dr. Juarez is a therapeutic optometrist who can diagnose and treat many medical eye care conditions. He stresses the importance of an annual eye exam because many eye diseases are not detectable without a dilated eye exam.
Active in the community, Dr Juarez is a member of Rotary Club in Texas City. With a strong commitment to “Service Above Self” rotary members volunteer in communities at home and abroad to support education and job training, provide clean water, combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, and eradicate polio.
